Los Angeles Art: Art History

Kophns One: Glendalee Berkeley

The other day I bumped into Kophns One on Glendale Blvd & Berkeley Ave. He was painting a huge mural a few blocks down from the 2 Freeway. This video is a little slice of LA’s mural history shot and edited in under an hour using an iPhone and iMovie app. I’m loving the mobile tech… ;)

Death of Art, Commoditization, Commercialism

Is it true? By and large, success in the art world has less to do with actual skills and artistic talent. It’s more to do with how well a piece of creative work plugs into the existing mainstream media system.

Recycled L.A. Art: Joan Morzov, Ahambra. CA

Every few weeks someone pushed the ArtCard concept in a new direction. We can look back at works by WoodheadBaron Swan and more recently Diane Leo to see some of the ingenious ways these L.A. artists have been fashioning something extraordinary from the 4×6 inch ArtCard canvas.

Artwork by Joan Morzov, Los Angeles, CA

The artwork above was produced by Joan Morzov form Ahambra, Calfornia. Joan has created 3D layers within a 2D space, a first for ArtCard. Not only is this work beautifully constructed she has produced a living, breathing and unpredictable entity.

The note next to the artwork was received with the ArtCard and reads “This card was created from recycled materials.”
