The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) invited Oliver Shipley (founder of LA-Artist) to run an ArtCard making workshop at their location on Grand Ave on Sunday, March 4th, 2012 from 1-3pm as part of the museum’s Sunday Studio series.
The ArtCard workshop gave Angelenos the opportunity to explore the permanent collection at MOCA, learn about mail art, view the original ArtCard collection and create their very own artwork on-site at MOCA!
NOTE: The first ever ArtCard sticker featuring art by Krasp One was printed and given away at the event. More info about the sticker here. Also, watch the video below.
Wow, it’s 2013. Last year flew by! I want to thank everyone who supported LA-Artist and the ArtCard project through 2012. We couldn’t have done it without you! A quick recap: We successfully exhibited ArtCards in Avenue 50 Studio, Arroyo Seco Library, Dana Neighborhood Library and the Bresee Foundation, hosted art-making workshops at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), Lummis Day, and the Levitt Pavilion and now have over 1600 ArtCards in the collection! Thank you for your submissions!
As we enter 2013, we are looking forward to publishing the first ArtCard book (with the help of our friends at USC), and will be printing and distributing 10,000 more blank ArtCard canvases across L.A.!
ArtCard is expanding! Last month 5 new neighborhoods were added to the ArtCard map and after an incredible workshop at the Museum of Contemporary Art on March 4th, an additional 130 artworks were submitted to LA-Artist.com.
Below are some of our favorite ArtCard submissions from March, 2012.
