OVERVIEW

Oliver Shipley DBA LA-Artist (“us,” “we,” or “Company”) is committed to respecting the privacy rights of visitors and users of the LA-Artist website (the “Site).  Our goal is to enable users to retain as much control as possible over their privacy and therefore, you have the option to volunteer or not volunteer your personal information on the Site.  We will never share your information with third parties for commercial gain, and only under the limited circumstances detailed below will your personal information leave our servers.

 A special note for parents concerning privacy:

We do not encourage children to participate in providing us with any personally identifiable information.  We ask that minors under the age of 18 years, do not submit any personal information to us.  If you are a minor under the age of 18 years, please use our services only under the approval and supervision of your parents or legal guardian(s).

1. What information do we collect?

The personally identifiable information that may be collected from you in completion of a registration form or during the process of leaving a comment include your name, email address, IP address as discussed below in 2 (c), and your web address (optional).   The names and zip codes of artists who send in their ArtCards are also collected.  Additional information will be collected if you donate or buy any products as discussed below in 2 (b). We do not allow children under the age of 13 to make personal information publicly available. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under the age of 13, we will delete that information before it is made public through our comment screening procedures.

2. How do we collect information?

We may collect information from you in several different areas on the Site, including but not limited to those described below:

(a) Volunteered Information

You may be asked to provide personally identifiable information including your name, your email address, and your web address (optional) when you register your ArtCard or leave a comment.

(b) Transaction Information

If you donate or buy any products, we will ask you to complete an order form that will request certain information from you, including financial information such as a credit card number and expiration date and general contact, billing and shipping information.  We will use this information to complete the transaction that you have requested, i.e., to deliver the products that you order, and to invoice you.  Such information is collected and stored through encrypted means for your protection.

(c) Automatic Collection

Our servers automatically recognize visitors’ domain names and IP addresses (the number assigned to computers on the Internet).  The Site may also gather anonymous “traffic data” that does not personally identify you, but that may be helpful to the internal operations of the website.

(d) Cookies

From time to time, we may use the standard “cookies” feature of major browser applications that allows us to store a small piece of data on your computer about your visit to our Web site.  We do not set any personally identifiable information in cookies, nor do we employ any data capture mechanisms on our website other than cookies.  Cookies help us learn which areas of our site are useful and which areas need improvement.  You can choose whether to accept cookies by changing the settings on your browser.  However, if you choose to disable this function, your experience at our Web site may be diminished and some features may not work as they were intended.

3. How do we use the information we collect?

(a) Personal Information

We internally use personally identifiable information about our visitors and users to verify your identity, or to follow up with transactions initiated on the Site.  If you sign up for the Newsletter, we may also use your information to inform you of any changes to the Site, or to send you additional information about LA-Artist.

(b) Anonymous Information

We use anonymous information to analyze our Site traffic, but we do not examine this information for individually identifying information.

(c) Use of Cookies

We may use cookies to recognize the percentage of return users.

4. With whom may we share the information we collect?

Our aim is to never share your personal information , which includes your name, your email address, your zip code, and your web address.  However, there are certain limited circumstances in which we may be required to share your information.  These circumstances include the following: (1) When we are required to do so by law; (2) when the information is required to protect and defend the rights or property of LA-Artist or its users; and (3) when the information is required to protect the safety of the public of users of the Site.   Still, even in such cases, we will provide as little of your information as possible in order to achieve the purpose for which it is required.

While we do not maintain any procedures for you to review or request changes to the information that we collect about you, you may request that we update your personal information or remove all information about you for our database by contacting us at: oliver (at) la-artist.com

5. What security precautions are in place to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of your information?

The Site has security measures in place that aim to prevent the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information that we obtain from you.

6. Public Forums

The Site includes comment boxes.  Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information.

7. Links to other Websites

The Site may contain links to other websites.  If you choose to visit other websites, we are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those other websites, and it is your responsibility to review the privacy policies at those websites to confirm that you understand and agree with their policies.

8. Notification of changes and acceptance of the Privacy Policy

By using this Site, you are agreeing to the terms of our privacy policy. We may change this Policy from time to time, and when we do we will post such changes on the Site and they will be effective as soon as we post them.
